Leviathan
Leviathan
"Leviathan" is a maritime-themed full sleeve that captures the chaos and majesty of the deep sea. The piece features a tall ship locked in a life-or-death struggle with a monstrous kraken, tentacles thrashing through waves and sails. The collector is a seafaring soul — a diver and adventurer — who wanted a visual narrative that embodied danger, power, and the eternal pull of the unknown.

Concept
Concept
The concept began as a tribute to old sea legends, where man and myth collide. The idea of a kraken wasn’t just about size or fear, but mystery — the kind of thing you feel in the pit of your stomach when the sea goes silent. We explored 1800s ship anatomy, fantasy illustration, and storm composition to craft a cinematic narrative on skin.

Design
Design
To create a natural flow on the arm, the design was sketched to spiral with the tentacles. The ship’s masts were angled to complement muscle curves and foreshorten across the shoulder. Compositionally, the piece uses hard diagonals and S-curves to guide the eye from top to bottom — a storm in motion. We used muted pinks to frame focal points during stencil prep.

This sleeve was completed in five sessions, each around 4–5 hours. The work alternated between bold blackwork for the tentacles and smooth shading for water and sky elements. The challenge was maintaining legibility through detail — capturing motion and chaos without losing clarity. The tentacle suckers were packed heavily for high contrast against the swirling sea.

Symbolism
Symbolism
The kraken represents the unknown — our fears, instincts, and subconscious depths. The ship stands for control, purpose, and forward movement despite overwhelming odds. Together, they symbolize tension between chaos and order, instinct and direction. For the collector, it’s a metaphor for navigating the unseen forces that shape our lives.
